Image is EVERYTHING!

Time and again, it amazes me how image and video draw people in like words on a page never do.

CMYK Solutions Weekly LinkedIn stats June 25 2014

Above is our weekly stats on how many views, likes and comments are on our LinkedIn page.   This stat is remarkable to me in that the updates that we post with images seem to get 4-5 times the amount of views, on average, as those that do not include a graphic.

The same can be said with likes, shares and comments.   Basically, people respond better to imagery.    Should we be surprised. . . I think not.    Look at the success of Pinterest over the last few years and we can deduce that we are a very visual society.   We learn and relate better to images than text and engage more often with brands that produce imagery that is visually appealing.

This is not a new thing, nor does it relate only to social media marketing. . . far from it.    When we consult people on the creation and implementation of their trade shows, we always advise to have larger images that relate to a single point and engage a customer within 3 seconds.    Why 3 seconds?   That is the time it takes the average person to stroll the ten feet past your booth and start looking at what someone else has to offer.

The same theory goes for bill boards, direct mail, street teams and any other form of marketing you can think of.

Images are what draw people in and allow you to tell your story.
